This campaign is aimed at spreading the news about climate change, its causes and effects, fostering practical learning experiences, and engaging families and community members to promote environmental stewardship, and contribute to the long-term sustainable practices that are environmental friendly.
CSU acknowledges the importance of building the capacity of the farmers to be able initiate and their business/farming sustainably. CSU conducts training sessions to build capacity of farmers to adapt to climate change, teach and train sustainable agricultural practices, including soil management practices, biodiversity enhancement (synchronic farming, integrated pest management)
CSU strongly fronts soil and water conservation. We offer both technical and financial support to help farmers and communities to implement conservation practices that prevent soil erosion and degradation and improving soil health.
Agri-tourism presents a big opportunity for farmers to earn extra income. CSU has a range of activities such as organising farm to farm exchange learning, home tourism, mentorship programs, camping, exchange learning visits, school agricultural tours and formation of eco-clubs among others.
Due to significant impact resulting from diverse ecosystems in Ibanda, CSU has focused on climate research, development and innovation in addressing environmental challenges. The key areas of research are climate impact assessment, biodiversity studies, socio-economic impacts and climate adaptation strategies. This research has helped the organization to develop initiatives like water resource management, sustainable agriculture programs and community engagements to promote sustainability and resilience within communities. CSU has also embraced various innovative strategies like technology integration for data collection, monitoring and sharing climate related information to farmers. Other strategies are funding mechanism, partnerships and collaborations and community-led innovations to develop long lasting solutions to climate challenges.
In response to the increased consumer demand for safe and sustainably produced goods, CSU collaborates with market stakeholders to facilitate access to specialized traceable markets for both input and output products, enabling farmers to enter markets that prioritize environmentally sustainable and socially responsible products.
CSU focuses on creating a more inclusive and equitable society, addressing gender-based discrimination and empowering marginalized groups. Through our initiatives, CSU aims at fostering a society where climate justice is served and equality, human rights and collective rights are observed.
CSU has developed a financial inclusive model to support the dreams of both emerging and existing farmers. Our model includes access to affordable seed capital assets and equipment, technology and experts to support farmers.
